Why are we obsessed with resumes?
A resume has become necessary for finding work in a collective imagination. In addition, when I created this blog, one of the first sections I posted was a resume (and since then I have written almost nothing in it).
Why are we paying so much attention to the resume, as if it were alpha and omega? Just because when we think about finding a job, we think about "responding to job offers." (Well, not you, as you read this article, then this and that). Indeed, if we adhere to a passive advertising response scheme, a resume is an important step.
Another reason is that the resume is something tangible. When you start looking, you don't necessarily know where to start, and a resume is a way to do something very concrete from the start. Repeating your resume creates the impression that you are doing something.
